Contentment
Instead of complaining at his lot, a contented man is thankful that his condition and circumstances are no worse than they are. Instead of greedily desiring something more than the supply of his present need, he rejoices that God still cares for him. Such an one is "content" with such as he has (Heb. 13:5). Arthur W. A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God’s truth is attacked and yet would remain silent…. John CalvinFrom God or About God?
Historically Christianity claimed to be and was received as revealed truth, not truth discovered via human insight or ingenuity. Paul begins his Epistle to the Romans with these words:" "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God..." (Romans 1:1) What does the phrase "gospel of God" mean? Does the word of indicate possession or does it mean simply "about"? Is Paul saying that the gospel is something about God, or something from God? Historic Christianity would consider this question an exercise in the fallacy of the false dilemma or the either/or fallacy. Classical Christianity would say that the gospel is a message that is both about God and from God. ~ RC Sproul
Yes, let us put the focus on God and HIs love, even if we have to use chocolate… or roses… or a surf & turf dinner.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Michael to you and yours! Carley
I got Wendy good this morning. Caught her totally off guard and put tears of happiness on her face. Needless to say, I am feeling on top of the world right now.
You can’t steal what is freely given
just dip it all in chocolate to cover up any of the “me”ness that shows. Chocolate covered blessings…yummmm…now that is a good double dipping! MIlk chocolate, white chocolate or dark chocolate?????? Valentine Blessings To You, cc
Happy Valentines day and God bless you!
Love this post and love you! The main item in the list of questions that stumps me sometimes is the one where you ask if I notice when others do me wrong? That has always been my bug-a-boo to weaken, not destroy or redirect just weaken, my outward rays of love for people and all of God’s wondrous creation. You have helped a whole box of chocolate’s worth by pointing out this question here today. Lots of chocky love back at you!
I take a similar self grading assessment with every encounter, every word I spew or write, every thought – what a terrible work-in-progress I am…but HE is with me and I’ll surely succeed as and when HE thinks I am ready.
Luv you both, Eric
I love you, fellow ligament (my term for online blog-evangelists) brother in Christ…Thanks for all your posts, keep up the nice work. You sure give us things to think about.
For true LOVE!
Thank you for sharing love!
