Contentment
Instead of complaining at his lot, a contented man is thankful that his condition and circumstances are no worse than they are. Instead of greedily desiring something more than the supply of his present need, he rejoices that God still cares for him. Such an one is "content" with such as he has (Heb. 13:5). Arthur W. Pink…to give a defense
A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God’s truth is attacked and yet would remain silent…. John CalvinFrom God or About God?
Historically Christianity claimed to be and was received as revealed truth, not truth discovered via human insight or ingenuity. Paul begins his Epistle to the Romans with these words:" "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God..." (Romans 1:1) What does the phrase "gospel of God" mean? Does the word of indicate possession or does it mean simply "about"? Is Paul saying that the gospel is something about God, or something from God? Historic Christianity would consider this question an exercise in the fallacy of the false dilemma or the either/or fallacy. Classical Christianity would say that the gospel is a message that is both about God and from God. ~ RC Sproul
You’ve no time to talk about work because you’re working MT!
Yes, Evelyn… this is one of those pages that never quite made it out my mind. One day I hope to present something here, as the company I work for has provided a place of employment to me for many years. God has truly blessed me through the owners of Centurion. Mr. and Mrs. Shafer have ensured there was a salary to be earned for me and many others for most of my adult life. They have literally employed me through my marriage and the raising of our son, Clint.
Mr. Shafer passed away very recently, which really has me wanting to work on this page. I hope to present a mini-history of the company he founded and grew to what it has become today. I will share something amazing with you for the moment. At Mr. Shafer’s funeral, his pastor from a church in New Orleans spoke on his behalf. He told of the day Mr. Shafer acknowledged his need for Jesus, and then gave testimony to the evidences of a changed life. I know, we already know that is the most amazing story to be heard! But there’s a highlight to his salvation story for me personally… he was saved the month and year that I was born. Many would shuck this off as fodder, but for me, it’s just another example of our God’s sovereignty and providence.
Anyway, thanks for swinging by dear friend and sister in Christ, see you over at Christian Blessings.
What a wonderful testimony of a man of God. You all including most of all Mrs Shafer, must miss him. However, his work is complete and he receives due reward from his Boss now. I pray the company continues strong to be a light and testimony to other companies. There are not very many good bosses these days of stiff competition. Thank you for sharing MT. I believe the Lord has His hand on you from the cradle to heaven. His promise is ever true – Seek ye the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. I wish you good health, strength and blessings from Jehovah Jireh. See you soon.
