There’s nothing more frustrating than finding that perfect spot for a nap, then forgetting where it was. Possum wishes he had thought of this sooner. But as he always says, “Varmints taste better with age” [Okay, Pot Pie didn't really say that, his dad made it up].
Anyway, we’ve created this page as a storage bin for those posts out there that deserve revisiting from time to time. It’s also an excellent place for you to meet some amazing people and partake of their writing ability. So without further ado…
My first entry is one that I search for occasionally as a reminder to why I’m here and why I post my sub-par notes for the crickets to enjoy. I’m kidding, and as Leroy’s post, “Blogging is an Awesome Possibility and Responsibility” suggests, we do write with a purpose. On May 19th of 2011, this post appeared at the Wordsmith’s Desk. I’m sure he had no idea there was a new blogger, with a new blog-site, who was fixing to throw his sucker into the dirt. I was writing and seeing little, and sometimes, no traffic. With Leroy’s click of the “like” button on one of my posts, a new appreciation for what we do began to surface (By the way, if you wondered why I make so much use of the “like” buttons at your sites, it began with Leroy… blame him). It was this blog by Leroy that caused me to ask whether I was writing for God’s glory, or my own. The correct answer to that question changes one’s entire approach to writing. So… need a little encouragement today? Click on his link.
We Must Hide in Christ 10 28 2011
Imagine introducing yourself to the world by the name, “lambskinny”. Can’t picture it? That’s okay, I can’t either. But early in my adventure into the land of blogging, God graced me with happening upon the site, Grace Partakers. And Carley, the author there, answers to that moniker. I was already a raving fan of her writing, when, on July 25th of 2011, she posted “Simply the Good News“. I’m easily persuaded by two things; rice crispy treats, and the proclamation of the Gospel. While I haven’t received any rice crispy treats from Carley (hint, hint), she perfectly nails down what God accomplished through the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Need a little good news today? Get clicking!
The title alone draws my attention. And if your honest, it draws your attention too. Feel that strawberry wound on your forearm? That painful bruise to your knee? The author of “Living in Obscurity” has the perfect bandage, the soothing remedy for what ails us. And on September 22th of 2011, this author presented what became one of my favorite posts of all time. I’m confident it always will be. Why? Because “I Have Been Promoted” describes our relationship with God so perfectly that I was tempted to just re-post it again and again until Jesus returns. Instead, I’ll send you to the site and let you see for yourself. Okay… that means click the site and go there.
Realm Beyond Reason 11 11 2011
Struggling to find something to do with those pesky unproductive moments that the snooze button consumes each morning? Didn’t think we knew, did you? That’s okay, we were once there too. At least until we were introduced to the site “Two Minutes of Grace.” Here, Debbie dishes out one-hundred and twenty seconds of reality on the rocks, shaken and not stirred. On August 3rd of 2011, this gem titled “The Love Train” derailed our common calculation of a virtuous life, seasoned of course, with a hint of C. S. Lewis. I can’t help you with the other twenty-three hours and fifty-eight minutes, but don’t miss these two.
Reveling in the Overflowing Grace of God
On extremely rare occasions, God gives us the privilege of meeting a person who personifies His grace before the world. While I have not met the author of this site in person, I assure you, he can be defined this way. One of my first regular ‘reads’ at WordPress was Jeff’s blogs over at Reveling in the Overflowing Grace of God. I travel there daily to feast on a personal study of God’s Word. On June 30th of 2011, Jeff hit the heights with a post titled, “The Greatest of These is Love.” What makes this man and the whole Bickley house so special? Is it his zeal for vintage music? His passion for baseball (Go Cards! – sorry, Jeff, couldn’t help it)? Actually, it’s the fact that he doesn’t just keep the curtains open on the windows of the house of his faith. He’s torn down every covering and shade and burnt them in the backyard. If you want to fellowship with a man who is simply growing in the grace of our Lord and Savior… then quit staring at these words and click his link.
Care to have your foundation tested? You should desire so, without reservation. Paul encouraged believers to examine themselves, and the author at “Not For Itching Ears” imitates Paul as he imitated Christ. Jim’s ministry through his writing is a desperate plea for the church to return to its foundation, the Cross of Christ. On January 15th of 2011, Jim posed a question to his readers, “Would They Have Killed Jesus if He Preached the Same Message the Church Preaches Today?” Before sending you to visit with him, let me warn you, his site is definitely not for itching ears!
A Compelling Argument Against Sola Scriptura 11 18 2011
One of my favorite places to travel during the course of each day is a site authored by one of the most down-to-earth men on planet earth. Let the day get the best of me and his writing restores my joy. Beat me down with your responses and he’ll lift me up with his. Want to know his secret? Ten chapters of God’s Word a day. Yeah, seriously! He’s been reading ten chapters of the Bible every day since I’ve known him. He titles his blog “This is My Life,” and on October 18th of 2011, his post, “A Man of Unclean Lips” strengthened me to shake off stuff that had restrained me and get back into the race. Praise God for men like the Bibleman!
I’m convinced, that one of the most awe-inspiring and amazing sites at WordPress is “Living in Graceland.” The lives of this man and woman, totally surrendered to meeting the needs of the completely downtrodden, parades the compassion of Jesus Christ in a manner that I know of no equivalent. Think you’re living a good and decent Christian life? Spend a few minutes at their site, and you’ll find yourself like me… weeping and pleading for grace to account for completely overlooking and disregarding those Jesus considered “the very least of these, My brethren.” I’ll be honest. I had chosen a post to include in the intro to their site, but then I traveled there today, and my entire world was rocked. Now I sit in tears, wondering why God strengthens some to overcome addiction, and others to perish as its prey. On October 17th of 2011, Debby posted “The Ninety-nine and Two.” Please Lord, as you burden my heart, bring strength for Your laborers and healing for these two.
Chasing a Feeling 10 20 2011
Bad Neighborhood 10 28 2011
As we travel through this life, pain and suffering are inevitable. Some pains and some sufferings tear at the very core of our being, such as the loss of a loved one. Worse still, when it is the death of a child. The Miskell family has endured such a tragedy, in the loss of their son, Caleb, and through their agony, Jeffrey ministers to others walking similar paths. At the site, A Father’s Love, the reader will journey with them through their grief… with God as their Captain. On September 14th of 2011, Jeffrey posted Chasing the Light, a note that gave us a glimpse of our humanity, when we bare our soul before our God, and cry, “Why!?” This family is a great inspiration in my life, and they will be in yours too.
Think you’ve got this whole faith and Christianity thing condensed into a tightly snug nutshell? Uncap the shell before you travel over to Russell’s place. You’re going to need some extra space. I’ve recently began following his writing, and I must admit, I’m ready to trade my pecan shell in for a coconut. His current articles are dealing with a taboo topic, at least in my neck of the woods. His handling of this topic is as biblically sound as anyone’s I’ve come across. Heed this though… you’ve been warned.

The negatives of dressing immodestly 05 31 2012
Well, of course it doesn’t end here. There are countless other sites just waiting for Pot Pie to visit and give his bark of approval. And, no doubt, this years winners will be bidding for a repeat performance. So, make Possum’s day and go visit these hammocks and rest awhile in God’s grace.

Thanks! What a honor to be among Possum’s Hammocks! Carley, aka lambskinny.
Wow, Thanks. It is my weekend to be affirmed. My Father is so good at giving me what I need, and he even uses my fellow bloggers out there. Thanks again, friend.

Thank you for your “bark” of confidence. I am encouraged.
It’s good to know that something I post makes a difference for someone.

What an honor to share the hammock with Pot Pie! Thank you, friend!
Looks like I’ll need to spend some time here.
