The conversation begins, “Honey, could you help me?” After twenty-two years of marriage, I have learned the right response. From another room in the house, I hear, “I need a pair of pliers!” With this request, I already know what’s up. I make my way to the toolbox, grab a pair of slip-joints and head to the bathroom. No longer do words need to be spoken. The conversation has been repeated so many times over the past couple of decades, it is a mere rerun in our minds. The silent communication consists of “again?” Then, “I couldn’t help it.” Followed by, “You and those things, can’t you use something else!” And this always brings the same response, “No, I cannot!” And concludes with, “Will you just take the pipe off the bottom of the sink and get my contact lens?!”
It’s Here…Somewhere
