Kissing the Cow

Our Niece's Affection

I am humbled by these words from Robert Murray M’Cheyne, “My people’s greatest need is my personal holiness.”

Praise the Lord, in Christ, new mercies are available each day.

In a sense, as believers, we are called to have a productive ministry, an effective impact on Christ’s Kingdom. And how can we be effective? In the words of a fisherman…

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-8

  3. Robert Murray M’Cheyne’s quote, “My people’s greatest need is my personal holiness” has long been one of my favourites – though favourite is hardly the right word, since it is so challenging.

When people see Jesus in us, HE will draw them to Himself.

  4. Great post Mike! I was going to do a post on this very passage a few days ago. I am glad I waited. I pray every day for God to increase these very virtues in me more and more with each passing day. I love the hidden nuggets of truth in this passage. Wonderful way you wove it together Mike. Excellent post!

Hi Mike I’m not into kissing cows but Love all God’s creation, although to be honest I’m not too impressed with being on mosquitoes food chain or that yucky flies think they can walk all over my lunch and I would never kiss a spider or snake…. am I missing something… like the point, anyway have you ever smelt a cows breath??

Most people want to be Loved and needed and most Christians feel they are failing to live as they should, we all have weaknesses and shortcomings, I have more then most believe me, but these aren’t sin even if some claim they are. Being perfected in Love is not about worldly perfection. Satan likes to convince us we are worthless, failures and that we can never measure up to how we are to be in Christ Jesus and sadly many believe him and repress their fear, that is because they think it is up to them to achieve it which means they are still in bondage, Jesus came to set us free, many don’t understand this Truth and until they do they will remain chooks scratching around trying to be happy instead of soaring like an eagle as they should.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

1 John 2:4-6 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the Love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.

Ephesians 4:23-24 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

2Timithy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in Peace; and the God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

Romans 6:6- 7 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Philippians 2:14-15 Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe
…John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to itforever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

When people stop trying to explain away these verses and accept them as True they will live victoriously in Christ Jesus because it is Him who will make them a reality not them…. Ask and we will receive.

    Christian Love Anne

Yeah, I’m not too much into kissing cows either, but my niece… it didn’t take much coaxing on my part to get her to kiss her dairy project.

The Fair is in town, so everyone’s having fun, even me with pictures.

      Thanks, Anne, and God bless.
