“The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations and a world of nervous activities which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart. The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship and that servile imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in this day, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all.”Β A. W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God

I think if Tozer was writing this today he would be even more adamant. The world grows less and less aware of God and of the work He desires to do in the lives of His people.
The Simplicity of Christ is well-worth remembering by me when I beat myself up for not promoting my writing more! I feel so peaceful in writing what He leads me to write. May He guide me to remain in simplicity while waiting upon the Lord to spread the words He wishes spread.
I recently found an old Tozer book at the bottom of one of my book boxes (I have so many!) It’s called “God Tells the Man That Cares.” What a great book. I love reading Tozer, and every Christian who is 30 years old or younger should be required to read him. Thanks for the quote.
I say Amen to that! Thanks for sharing. Oftentimes we look for peace on other places, but God is really saying that, ”He is the only One who can satisfy us”. π
Mike,I am nominating you for the ABC Award. My post on Wed. will give details.
Great post Mike. Christianity has boiled down to program and methods when all that is required is that one simply BELIEVES.
How true this is. I love A.W.Tozer thanks for sharing. π
AMEN! Thanks!
