Super Size Me …there’s a trash can near by

Is it possible that God has made the necessary provision to alter the course of human suffering? We could argue that our generation’s privilege is to possess the resources to do so. I was reminded of this while watching the evening news last night as it was reported that if the monetary value of all of the food thrown away in America was divided among every citizen, we would each waste twenty-two hundred dollars a year… just on food.

To put it in perspective, twenty-two hundred dollars is one thousand, eight hundred and thirty-five dollars more than a large majority of the world’s population  survives on annually (roughly a dollar a day). To put it in greater perspective, I’m reminded of Jesus’ words…

I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me. –Matthew 25:35-36

    I think the majority of us could live on much less than we do, and we certainly need to remain open to the Lord’s leading regarding helping others. It is our responsibility AND our privilege.

    Blindness doesn’t only deal with vision…that’s the least of it…it’s about perspective…

    Americans are eating and wasting far too much! I don’t think we need to eat all that we can eat 24 hours a day. We are so BLESSED and do not even grasp the concept. Great post, Mike.
