Quit Scratching Your Ears

blog-scrathcing-earOne of my blog-life-long favorite places is over Jim’s way, Not For Itching Ears. I am so glad he has returned from his sabbatical and has begun writing again (my ears were beginning to itch).

Although I have tried to no avail to post surveys on occasion, Jim manages to push through neat topics in his that really makes one ponder, such as Do You Know How the Early Church Spotted a False Prophet?

He also strives to question those things we shy from mostly for fear of the backlash, like How to Get More Men into Your Church Service… the Easy Way.

Take a gander with forewarning… your ears may never be the same.

  2. What more can I add but thank you Mike for sharing Jim’s link, such wonderful ideas to pack the Church full of willing eager men, for what I’m not sure but of course they are going to need more than one Service to accommodate the older men in the Church, so they don’t miss Bingo with their wives, we need to keep them together you know and a few added gardens so they can potter around in while having a smoke, Wow my ears have stopped scratching, it sure is a pleasant sound to them.

Annie is impressed, now keep looking down friend, you may find some money on the ground.

bwahaha… yours are the needed words to make Jim’s post complete Anne. I hope he gets the chance to see it. Seriously though he does make us men think about what it is that shuold be drawing our attention. Thanks for the comment that made my day good friend.

      • Thanks friend, I left a comment on Jim’s Blog too, just a little more serious but I’m sure it will pack a punch perhaps I should also leave it for you here, not that I think you have itching ears, quiet the opposite, to be honest it’s your nose that twitches, it just loves to sniff out a good Post with a great message…….

My comment on Jim’s Blog…… Wow Jim, you covered almost everything but from a woman’s view point you could add pictures of their wives as dart targets for those who have separated, divorced or just don’t get on with them and as an added bonus this will help flex their muscles, you want them looking and feeling good for the attractive scantily clad Women don’t you, perhaps also free tickets to the local Jim and Sauna as a door prize or as a raffle.

Wow if Ron goes that will give me more time to watch the Soaps on T.V, which reminds me, shouldn’t you have a few TV’s in the Church so the men don’t get homesick.

Wow you are indeed going to pack them in!
Have a good one – Annie.

Well Mike as they say we leave them laughing – Cheers Mate!

        • Jim says:

Thanks for the link Mike, we got a lot of traffic yesterday from your site!

When we were brainstorming the idea for this new service, one of the unbelievers on our leadership team suggested that we use the baptismal as a hot tub. On the cold winter nights, this would be a great draw, he reasoned. We all agreed. Our 22 year old Minister of Magnification didn’t think there was any theological problems or scriptural issues that we couldn’t overcome with a little bit of creativity. In the end, we decided not to do it because most churches don’t have their baptismal any longer and it also might have been seen as too “churchy” and get in the way of our outreach efforts.

You are too funny Mrs.Annie. 😉

      • Thanks Brazen but I went a bit too far, Jim said they were good suggestions, but because we want to remain biblical in our approach, we have to draw the line at promoting violence against women. This is something Jesus would never do! and Jim is very right, He wouldn’t. Jim with his other focus was spot on with all his other wonderful advice in making the Church more acceptable to men today…. so I replied…..

OK Jim I agree, yes there is always room for improvement, so what about putting some rubber stoppers on the ends of the Darts ? OK it was just a suggestion, don’t send me to spam!

I love good clean humor, God gave us the gift of Laughter and there is a time for everything including witty inventions which both Mike and Jim use cleverly too, humour is also a great teaching tool, God tells us to also focus on what is good and uplifting and His Truth.

Thanks again Brazen, I have looked at your Blog but like with some of the others I will return and comment.

        Blessings – Annie.
